At a time that Prempeh sports is under tremendous assault at Sofoline, especially
by the Koduah-Atiemo hate brigade, it is worth mentioning that Senior
Ebenezer Amoah
is also under the star radar.
When Coach Oliver of Virginia came to campus, he
made all the Prempeh stars play a trial match for him to watch. The Prempeh All-Stars
played against a second division side, which our boys
won 3-0.
The coach voted Ahmed and Amoah as his favourite players.
However, Virginia Tech's scholarship allocation is almost
full for this 2006/07 academic year. It appears that the only guarantee for this year's entry
is Ahmed. The coach said he will contact Amoah later as to what he could do for him.
Luckily, all the stars (Ahmed, Amoah, Agyemang Duah) are also being considered
by other schools. This has actually become a headache for prempeh.org because when the
other coaches browse the site and they read that some of the boys have been made offers
by other schools, they tend to get discouraged because they fear that if another school
is the player's first choice, then there is a likelihood that he may transfer out if admitted.
Should we then wait for the boys to enrol
in the universities before announcing their decisions at this website?
The most important question, however, is "Shouldn't all these youthful achievements inspire
Mr. Koduah and Atiemo to actually help these young children succeed? Why are we not proud that some foreigners
are coming to recruit the best from our land?"
