The Richmond Kickers Future were the first team to clinch a 2005 Lamar Hunt
US Open Cup berth after the 2-1 win over Raleigh last weekend. The
undefeated Future has qualified for the tournament for the first time and
will enter the First Round on Wednesday, June 15th where they will most
likely face a PDL or USASA team.
Future forward Dominic Oduro was
named PDL Player of the Week this week for
his contribution to the team's Open Cup berth. With two goals in both the
2-1 win over Raleigh and the 4-3 overtime win against Carolina, Oduro has
tallied five goals and two assists in four games played.
The Future will face the Williamsburg Legacy for the second of three times
this season tonight, June 1st at 7:00 p.m. at Sports Backers Stadium. The
Legacy currently reside in fourth place in the PDL standings, eight points
behind the first place Future. Most recently, the Legacy recorded their
first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Carolina Dynamo.
