Kwaku Sintim Misa (KSM) has received a big pat at his back. The Ghanaian Undisputed King of Comedy has been listed in the prestigious Biography International Year Book as one of the most captivating entertainers world-wide in the year 2004.
The magazine does yearly profiles of 200 of the most fascinating people making international news and history from a wide range of professions. The other Ghanaian listed in the 2004 year book is Dr Sam Jonah under the mining category.
KSM is named as one of the four most fascinating entertainers of the world. The other three entertainers are Colin Farrell, an Irish actor, Eytan Fox, an Israeli filmmaker and Hong Suk Chong, a South Korean actor.
How does KSM feel about this remarkable international recognition? “It is the ultimate shocker. I know I have what it takes to compete internationally, after all I was the first African to do an original one-man play off-Broadway,” were the words of the visibly excited KSM.
Through all the excitement though, one could tell that the recognition is indeed humbling for KSM who admitted, “I did not expect to be listed in Biography International Yearbook as one of the most captivating entertainers world-wide, it is a recognition that I will treasure and revere for the rest of my life.”
KSM has held the title, “Undisputed King of Comedy” for the last seven years in Ghana treating audiences to his ever popular Saga of the Returnee and others like Politically Incorrect, Colonial Independence and Afia Siriboe.
He is the only actor who sells out all 1500 seats at the National Theatre and holds the record for the most consistent sold-out shows. Two years ago, KSM was the first African actor to do a live show at the BBC auditorium at the Bush House. The show, “Thinking Alive” was replayed on BBC for a record six times.
Currently, he is making incredible waves with his new hit television show, “Thank God It’s Friday” on Metro TV. Aired on Fridays at 9.30pm and repeated on Sundays at 1.30pm, the show is unquestionably the most talked about with ratings going off the roof.
Meanwhile, his other television series “Divorce Court” is now showing on OBE in London with equally high ratings.
