PREFECTS INVIGILATE AS MASTERS CONTINUE WITH STRIKE ACTION
27 March 2004
For the first time in the history of Prempeh Collge, Prefects were made to invigiilate the end of term exams after the masters failed to turn up because they are on a strike action. The prefects led by the Senior Prefect took the trouble of invigilating their juniors after they realised that the masters were not coming to invigilate because they happen to be on strike. One wonders whether the exam will even continue once the masters remain on strike or whether the exam if invigilated by the prefects will be "apor free". The teachers in Ghana are on strike because of issues related to salary increment, which started about a week ago. The government has not commented on the strike action yet.

DISCIPLINE ON THE RISE
25 March 2004
Discipline is the motto now on campus. A form three student who took the laws in his own hands and brought some boys from outside campus to come and beat one Senior Olasu, an athlete, after the later had ceased the form 3 student's CD PLAYER while using it an unlawful place has really been punished in the school. On Friday evening, a group of students came to the campus of Prempeh College to search for Senior Olasu to beat him up. Little did anyone know that they were sent in by a boy who was so indisciplined. As a result of this, some of the students in Butler house where Snr Olasu resides gave the boys severe beating till they left the scene.

PARTY ON CAMPUS!
20 March 2004
The Headmaster this weekend held a party for the school's athletics and football teams
and the Debating and Quiz teams
to show his appreciation for the honors they keep bringing to school nearly every week.
The football team won the prestigious
Milo Soccer competition
on February 6th by beating the famous"football school" KASS on penalties - 4-3. The
Deabting team on March 3rd won
the prestigious National Independence Day Debate in front of a live national
television audience by defeating Accra's PRESEC 204-198 points. The athletics team
won the Interco Athletics Zone
D championship, while the Quiz team
successfully conquered
all the teams they faced in Cape Coast - Mfantsipim, St. Augustine's, Swedru Secondary
and Ghana National Secondary. The Quiz team also won the Ashanti
Regional Maths Quiz competition
and therefore gets to represent the Region. Furthermore, they won
the SRC Zone I Quiz championship.
They compete in the most prestigious competition - the National Science & Maths Quiz
competition on April 12 - a program which Prempeh has dominated over the years.
So while Senior Amanfoo at the University level were dancing the night away on Legon campus this weekend, so were we here
at Sofoline. Ours did not get much attention, however.

AMANFOO INTRODUCES AWARD
1st March 2004
The famous and evergreen Sofoline University is on its way to become greener and beautiful than before. These days, it is really difficult to find an institution which makes a clean sweep of its surroundings. Even though, Prempeh College happens to be the most beautiful and neatest 2nd cycle institution in the Ashanti Kingdom and the nation at large, the college wants to continue to its zenith. In view of this, one Senior Manu (full name will be announced later) has introduced an "ËNVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY AWARD" aimed at awarding the neatest house an amount of one million cedis every two years.

WOFA K IS FULL HEADMASTER AT KOSS
1st March 2004
After being promoted to Assistant Headmaster at Konongo Odumasi Secondary School (KOSS), our legendary Physics and Maths teacher, "Wofa K" has been appointed Full headmaster after just 2 months of outstanding work in office, which is a feather in the cap of Mother Prempeh. Within the past 20 years, nearly every school in Ashanti has received one of our masters as a Headmaster. Prempeh trained-minds are running all the schools in the Region. Wofa K taught Mathematics and Physics at Prempeh from the 1980s until December 2003 when he was transferred to be Assistant Headmaster at KOSS. Congratulations to him.

YOUNG AMANFOO ENJOY THE WEBSITE ON CAMPUS
22 February 2004
Prempeh's debating squad in Tamale
wanted to see their results
announced on the web before their
departure back to Kumasi but
breakdown of campus cafe didn't
make it feasible. Browsing
of this website is increasingly rampant on
campus and the students have their
favorite sections.
While our Selected Amanfoo of Note and Amanfoo in the Spotlight are the favorite
sections for the majority of the student body, what inspires them more and what stimulates them to sneak out
in the night to check out the website is Joe Passarsa's writings. Senior Joe Passarsa's writings - from the very palpable "AD 1899 , the Colonial Bug" to the masterpiece he co-wrote on
Mr. Attakora - are the favorites among the students.
His anti-OWAREAN writing is believed to be the catalyst in our recent demolition of those Santasi boys in every competition in which our boys face the OWASS boys.
"We have a problem with the gathering of information because the internet cafe on campus is not working. Please let the old boys come to our aid so that we can post information on the site as rapidly as possible" said P.Y (Papa Yaw Ohene Konadu) when he was interviewed a week before their departure to Tamale. P.Y. and his friends would have loved to read about their victory before heading back to Sofoline. But campus cafe didn't make it practicable.
This is the only website in the country and perhaps the only one anywhere that devotes equal attention to its alumni and student body, and with a radar that follows alumni pursuits and achievements, as well as students' and the College's advancement and activities.

HEADMASTER'S BRAGGINGS IRRITATES AMANFOO
Wednesday, 11 February 2004
How can anyone brag about AMASS? Headmaster ODP's braggings about his "great" alma mater irritates
all of us. Every sentence he speaks begins with "When I was at AMASS...," "If this was AMASS....,"
"AMASS boys are different." Ei, how in the world can anyone compare a ROYAL school to AMASS - an apotheosis of uncouthness and viciousness? Why is he even proud of it?
Anyway, we will soon be heading to the Stadium to face their unwarranted rage, only to come back home to hear daily morning lectures on such barbaric, uncultured souls?

SENSING DANGER, HEADMASTER
GETS TOUGH ON INDISCIPLINE
10 February, 2004
The headmaster today "put his feet down" in order to enforce discipline aand raise the level and standard of education of the only college in Ashanti Region. Following the allegations levelled against the headmaster by some of the section of the public concerning his inability to control the affairs of the school and so needs to be admonished or sacked, the headmaster today proved all wrong as he issued some punitive measures against some of the students who went contrary to the rules and code of the college.
Today saw the suspension of three form two and three boys who "switched" church service and another boy also saw himself leaving the boarding house for good after he was found to have been in the bad books of the law.
At assembly today, four students were "lashed" after they were caught on their way from town without exeats. This act by the under-pressure headmaster is commendable as it will help put the students on their toes.
The Headmaster's job is believed to be in jeopardy as his continual mistakes, UNPREMPEH academic performance, corruption and other serious administrative matters continue to plaque him. The PTA is seen as his main antagonists.
