St. Augustine's Going for it Again, while Prempeh Continually Degenerates
Friday, December 14, 2007
Akwasi Owusu-Achiaw's reprobate soul continually impedes Prempeh College's progress on all fronts, while our rivals who lagged
behind us before Achiaw's regrettable appointment as Headmaster continually surpass us during the last 6 wasted years of Achiawcracy.
The new National Science Quiz trophy is in Cape Coast. It will not come to Sofoline anytime soon - not until
we get a new, intelligent, academically-friendly Headmaster
The Prempeh-invented Science Quizzes league which Achiaw refused to implement, was used by our rivals in Cape Coast to win the 2007 National
Science Quiz. When we developed that concept in 2005, they took advantage of the program and brilliantly trained their form ones and twos for the
national competition. While Owusu-Achiaw refused to pursue academic matters at Sofoline, the visionary Headmaster at the Cape Coast decided to adopt
our methods, which eventually led his school to national glory in July 2007.
As soon as the new school year started in September 2007, the reigning national champions started using the program once again, which is intended to help them defend the trophy successfully.
Meanwhile, Prempeh continues to reek by the day and is expected to collapse completely by the end of this academic year if the worst headmaster
in our history is not driven out of the campus immediately.
When the headmaster's first term came to an end in 2005, the Board of Governors first met to review his achievements in the realm of sports.
After being commended for an excellent achievement in sports at that time, the Board scheduled a meeting to decide on his record on academics
and were on the verge of sacking him in October 2005. But fortunately for the Headmaster, the judgement day the Board was to decide his fate
coincided with the inauguration of the Prempeh.org Inter-Houses Science & Maths Quiz competition, an event chaired by Nana Akyempemhene and Board
member Dr. Akosa.
Akyempemhene delivers his address at the Inauguration of the Prempeh Inter-Houses
Quizzes League on October 21, 2005, in a ceremony broadcast nationally on TV-3. The Board of Governors awarded Owusu-Achiaw a new 3-year term based on the
merits of Quizzes League. Little did they know that Achiaw, whose hatred for academic matters is renowned, was only feigning.
The thought of having a regular inter-house quizzes competition on campus which will sharpen the skills of Prempeh contestants
and aid them in capturing
national quiz trophies impressed Prof. Akosa and the entire Board so much that they easily offered
the Headmaster a new 3-year term on October 21, 2005 (the very moment
the quizzes league inauguration ended).
The inauguration was broadcast nationwide on TV-3. All the science masters involved in the science quizzes league program were rewarded
with free television and DVD players.
A Science Quiz library was developed and filled with books and video/filming instruments. A video recording device was provided to the school for
recording all quiz competitions to provide a video library which will enhance the learning proccess. At least $1000 was made available
for the winner of competition.
But as soon as the Board of Governors left campus, the Headmaster refused to hold the competition. It appears, to him, the soccer league was
more important than the academic pursuits.
Because the Board awarded him the contract extension solely based on the prospects of the Inter-Houses Quizzes league, the Board
later felt deceived and betrayed. This obviously implies the Headmaster tricked them into awarding him a contract extension by
accepting the quizzes league with enthusiasm. Fortunately for the Headmaster, the tenure of some Board members ended; the old Board
members went away and gave way for new Board of Governors, including a new Old Boys President.
St. Augustine's College, from the far away Cape Coast, became so enamored of the Prempeh quizzes league concept that they
implemented a similar thing at their school and used it to
train their boys so well that their contestants could hardly be matched in Accra in this year's competition.
Akyempemhene confronts Achiaw on November 3, 2007 about Achiaw's penchant for deceit
and his academic apathy. Achiaw lied to him as usual. nana declined an invitation to attend this year's Speech Day - the first time he has failed to grace Prempeh's high-table during
Speech Days.
At the Inauguration of the Prempeh Quizzes League in October 2005, Guest Speaker Nana Akyempemhene (the 1967 Assistant Senior Prefect)
made the following remarks: When I was here in the 1960s, where was St. Augustine's, Wesley Girls and OWASS? Now I hear there is a school
called St. Augustine's? This Quizzes league that we have established here is the first of its kind in the nation"
This remark which was broadcast on national TV so piqued the boys from Cape Coast that it served as the driving force behind their run to
the national championship title.
But despite Nana Akyempemhene's staunch pro-Prempeh stance and his high expectations for Prempeh's fortunes in the competition, Owusu-Achiaw
deceived him by refusing to organize the competition. At the Pearson-Osae Lecture in November 2007, Nana confronted the disgraced Owusu-Achiaw
about the disgrace he has brought Amanfoo by making a fraudulent claim on national television that a science quizzes league exist at Sofoline.
Achiaw's hatred for academics is so baffling that people have started questioning his own intelligence. Critics believe that Achiaw lacks the requisite
intelligence to understand the importance of academic pursuits. Owusu-Achiaw is a man whose facial expression changes the moment academic matters are
raised.
