Why Achiaw should never be Employed Anywhere again
Friday, December 14, 2007
The clarion's call by the great R.T. Sackey means that the whole world has recognized that Owusu-Achiaw is an ineffective leader who should not be entrusted with
Prempeh's mission. Akwasi is only concerned with earning money at all cost, even if it includes colluding with his bursar to steal
all the money the college earns.
This is the man who steals money intended to buy medicine for sick children. A child died under his watch in Opoku Ware House in 2002
because there was no Housemaster available to sign an exeat for the asthmatic to go home for treatment.
An old boy approached him 2 years later - precisely in August 2004 - and offered him cash to be used to get medicine for the boys. But
the morally flexible Achiaw discarded modesty, decency and all those virtues, which even thieves observe within their clan.
Owusu-Achiaw showed no qualms about taking the money and using it himself. He kept the donation a secret
because he thought nobody had seen the donor, Kwaku Danso visit him on campus.
You hold a dead child in your arms and somebody gives you money to use to prevent
death in the future and you do not run out singing "hossanah?" And you are a father with children living in a home on that very campus yourself?
Where is this man's conscience?
Three years later Kwaku Danso confronts the headmaster about his money and the Headmaster refuses to say a word or return the money.
Then the same passionless Achiaw, for his mistress' sake, takes a bribe from the publisher of a very putrid, ill-favoured scientific
textbook, and our boys perform poorly on national exams as a consequence of this ultimate betrayal. He took a brand new Opel Astra vehicle
as a bribe and offered it
to his secretary/mistress, so that the horrible textbook will be used by students, while Department Heads -- all 100% of them -- pleaded for
some loyalty, integrity, and common sense to prevail.
But again, Achiaw discarded the virtues of compassion, foresight, intelligence, decency and all the other merits which even the thieves in the Ali Baba story
observed within thier clan.
The bribe was offered to his wife but Akwasi preferred to give it to his Secretary/Mistress, betraying not only Prempeh
College -- a school that has given him so much -- but also his equally greedy wife.
How could a father raising children at a Christian school
flaunt his sexual relationship in the presence of nerly 2000 teenage boys? What example is this prisoner of conscience
really setting for school children?
Never again should Prempeh be managed by persons of that ilk who are pitiless, unconscionable and wholly brutish. Shame on him.
