The headmaster came to morning assembly on Monday, July 23, 2007 and
said,"I want the science and maths quiz contestants to mount upstage."
The place became dead silent.
After about a minute without any one showing up, the boys started laughing and yelling.
Some at the back of the hall started booing the Headmaster.
When he asked why they were shouting and booing, the whole school replied in unison, "they have completed school."
The Headmaster said he thought representatives of the school in the quiz were form 2 students and that he had some presents
for them.
This obviously shows how much our Headmaster knows about Science & Maths Quiz competitions. Let us help him out:
Dear Mr. Owusu-Achiaw, as Headmaster of Prempeh College, Chairman of Ghana's Conference of Heads of Assisted Schools and Vice-Chair
of Inter-Schools Sports, we expect you to be aware of the following:
There is new standardized national exam in Ghana (WASCE has replaced the former SSSCE),
The new WASCE is offered in April/May each yeah instead of June/July as done previously
That is why the National Science & Maths Quiz Competition has been shifted from February to June/July each year
This means that contestants graduate in May before going to Accra to represent their schools
Thus Prempeh's contestants were already graduated old boys; that is why when they were starving in Accra for money, you should have attended to their needs
Also, the National Maths & Science Quiz is now a 3-week long affair, instead of the previous 1-week format. So imagine
the chaos that would ensue
in this and similar cases
if the website doesn't step in and play the role of Headmaster by paying money in such situations.
Lastly, as it has been the tradition over the years, form 2 boys do not get to represent the school because they don't have all the Science
syllabus
completed at that time
