The closing assembly was held at the Osae Assembly Hall at 9am on 14th
December, 2006.
It began with an Opening Prayer by the College Chaplain Rev.
Erasmus Laryea as has been the tradition. He then exhorted the students as
they go to celebrate the christmas holidays and stressed more particularly
on "illicit sex" and the temptation to sin during christmas holidays which
is full of vanities. He then asked the students to always remember the
meaning of christmas and eschew all forms of evil.
Some announcements were given by the Assistant Headmasters and the Senior
Housemaster. The Snr. Housemaster warned students to abide by all the rules
and implored the students to continue studying even as they go home since
they learnt little this term.
He said stringent punishment will be meted out to students who fail to turn
up on the day of reopening and for all roll-calls next term.
The College Anthem was then sung by the whole school and the college flag
lowered by the cadet prefects.
Headmaster's Message:
The headmaster is indisposed, however, he was there to give out some few "fatherly
advice" to the boys.
He began by thanking all the students for a successful 2006/7 Academic Year.
He then went on to praise the webmaster of the best collegiate website in
Ghana, Senior Harold Ofori for his immense contribution towards the
development of Prempeh College. He said he was highly impressed by the work that
"one man" is doing for the school. "The educational fair was a success as
there were no bad incidents. I am really grateful to the organisers for the
time and money as well as energy spent in making it a success," he said. This
is about the third time the Headmaster had publicly praised the prempeh.org founder
at a school closing or reopening assembly.
He went on to express his gratitude to the students for their behaviour on
the day of the fun fair which portrayed a typical sense of "suban ne nimdee."
He admonished the students to check the website every
morning and evening before they go to bed as if it was the "dining hall
food."
The headmaster nonetheless cautioned the SRC and the prefects body not to
plead on behalf of the students as there would never be a mid-term for them
next term. He also promised to give out this year's edition of The Stool
(i.e. Prempeh Magazine)
to all students next term.
Senior Prefect's Address:
The senior prefect also on his part advised the students to lead decent
lifestyles as they go for the christmas holidays. Senior Francis Ainoo also
told the winners of the prempeh.org SRC basketball competition and essay
contest that they would receive their prizes on the 8th of January during
the opening ceremony along with certificates.
Closing Prayer:
The closing prayer was said by the student Chaplain. MHB 870 was then sung
and there was a benediction by the Chaplain.
