The college resumed from vacation on 11th September, 2006. At around 6pm
yesterday, just a hand full of students had arrived. This is because some
students could not get their school fees and as it is the tradition of the
college that each boy must show his school fees receipt before entry to the
college, some of the students could not enter.
Some of the students had also queued in front of the Accounts office to pay
their school fees during the day. One wonders why some students tend to pay
their fees on re-opening days and not days before.
The usual task force made
of teachers who oversee that no student without his school fees receipt
would be made to enter his dormitory was also present. A look at the front of
the Osae Assembly Hall had students also queued taking their chits with
which they can have access to the dining hall.
It could be recalled that the Prempeh College Dining hall was been
re-walled and a new gate was put in place during the vacation to ensure that students forsake the
attitude of "capturing" and be a little more gentle when the bell is tolled
for lunch or supper.
So many taxis and cars were seen on the premises of the campus with parents
giving out their last advice to their wards.
The Senior Prefect and the
Protocol Prefects were also on duty to ensure a successful
re-opening. Rollcall was conducted in the evening around 9pm but
would not count much as a
student's excuse of not having the fees is a little bit acceptable.
