Butler boys watching videos in their Common Room. This is exactly why they don't need any midterms.
The staff and headmasters of the college were yesterday in a dilemma as
they deliberated on the mid-term holidays of the students of the
college. With the distraction in lectures as a result of the strike action
by NAGRAT, the students have been left on their own for a while after the
GNAT tutors also recently joined in the non-discharge of duty.
The student body were to go on mid-term on Wednesday, the 1st of November
but the masters in a meeting yesterday pondered if the mid-terms will help
the college. There was no concensus by the masters as some wondered if the
students would return after mid-terms with others asking for mid-terms for
the students.
Some of the masters (the majority) believe that when the studenbts go home
they would not return until they hear on the radio that the strike action is
over. This situation is what is prevailing in some secondary schools as
some students have refused to go to school until they hear good news about
the strike action
Any decision taken by the headmaster and his staff will go a long way to
shape the opinion of other schools in the nation since Prempeh's decision will
be the focal point of others next week.
We feel that the Headmaster should keep the boys in school; midterm holidays are designed
to give students a break from the rigour of academic work during a school term. But
what is a midterm if no academic work has been pursued to date? From what stressor would these boys be
needing a break? The sleeping, eating, playing and the watching of films? In fact,
the whole term has been a midterm holiday! Please, let us keep the boys in school, before the devil finds something
to occupy their time at home.
