    Daily Guide

Reports reaching Daily Guide indicate that the house mistress of St. Louis Secondary School in Kumasi, Madam Augusta Mensah has died in a motor accident, whilst five students were also reported to have suffered severe injuries in the accident and are in critical condition.

The reports said 70 final Geography students of the school, including Madam Augusta Mensah, 58, were returning from an excursion trip to Akosombo, when their bus was involved in a fatal accident on Saturday at Somanya in the Eastern Region.

Anxious parents and guardians rushed to the school upon hearing the accident and are waiting patiently for the arrival of their wards to know their condition. Those who got injured were treated at the Anum hospital. Five of the students who are reported to have been in very critical condition are expected to be brought back together with several others who sustained injuries to Kumasi, where they would be taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital (KATH) for treatment.

Authorities at St. Louis whom the paper spoke to were not willing to give detailed information about the accident. The senior housemistress of the school, Ms. Veronica Dwemoh-Sarpong when contacted said she would neither confirm nor deny the death of the housemistress, until they gathered additional information. It was indicated that the authorities of the school hired a bus for the said excursion, as the school bus was on a different programme
