    PREMPEH IS THE STANDARD

    Thursday, September 22, 2005

Radio reviews of the new computer based admissions to schools used Prempeh admission as the yardstick. Any news about the system in the weeks preceeding the reopening of schools centered on Prempeh College.

Some women were on Hello FM praising the new computer system for aiding their wards to get a school like Prempeh since their sons would not have gotten it had there been the old system in place.

Hello FM also interviewed a boy from eastern Region who had Prempeh and was really elated.

    Getting in was difficult.
The new computer-based selection system is intended to eliminate corruption; it takes the clout out of headmaster's hands and places it on the computer. The pupils select the schools of their choice and the headmasters selects the students they want, and the computer searches for a perfect match for both school and child.

One of the difficulties with the new system is that it doesn't allow the schools to offer talent-based admissions, such as recruitment of athletes and other sportsmen. According to our headmaster, the computer also favours villagers. Because it has been designed to give special consideration to children from rural areas, any rural boy with average grades who selects Prempeh is easily offered Prempeh by the computer.

But Prempeh has its own system in place to weed out such atypical students: our "justify your inclusion" examination system ensures that!

Those who fail to achieve the minimum setpoint for exams will be sent packing immediately.
