STUDENTS BEMOAN ADDITIONAL MOCK EXAMS
Friday, June 10, 2005
When Senior Housemaster Atiemo informed Prempeh seniors on Tuesday that the
College may test their readiness for the SSSCE Exams by administering another mock exam,
the boys were outraged, squealing out loud in disapproval.
The boys maintain that it would be meaningless to take another mock exam since, their
actual mock exam, which they took several weeks ago, were not fully evaluated by the
teachers. The English papers were not marked by the masters because of
the strike. "Why then should we take another exam," the students argue.
Besides, the boys argue that the fact that the practicals component of the SSSCE has already
began for some students, it will be senseless at this critical time to force students to take
a mock exam.
But our boys must understand that the Senior Housemaster, being Prempeh-born, and a product of the College himself,
is seeking the best for the alma mater. And since Prempeh has been traditionally concerned about its reputation, it is perfectly
wise to test the students again because of the strike action. Perhaps the administration
wants to actually get an idea of how prepared our students
are, considering that they have had no teachers to teach them for a long time. Only the best
is good for Prempeh, and if an additional test will help enhance our already distinguished reputation, why should we worry?
