THE LATEST ON THE HEADMASTER'S HEALTH
Sunday, August 15, 2004
The JSS BECE exam results are about to be released, which means it is the school admissions season. That
also means that this is the season when parents and guardians from all over historically pester Prempeh's headmasters
with admission favours. Because some Prempeh headmasters have gone into hiding or feigned illness in the past
to avoid being bombarded with overwhelming requests for admission favours - such as the ones that originate from royal
households in Ashanti and elsewhere - we initially dismissed news of Headmaster Owusu-Achiaw's illness
as "one of those admissions tricks."
However, it turned out the man is really sick and his condition, according to some inside sources, may be critical.
No one at the school wants to talk about it and every attempt to find some information from his deputies yield nothing.
They simply will not talk. They will not even reveal the hospital he is being treated in.
We first reported on August 13th that the Headmaster was very sick. He did not even get to travel to Accra as previous announced here to acquaint
himself with the new computerized admissions system, for which Prempeh has been selected among a few schools to implement
for the forthcoming form one admissions process. The Asst. Headmaster (Administration) also remained behind to take care of him, while it is believed that
only the Asst. Headmaster in charge of Academics and the Acting Senior Housemaster went to Accra.
