Prempeh boys looking at their 15th position in the newspaper. With this current lackadaisical attitude, could we actually perform worse this year?
|
After delivering his message, the Old Boys President said "NO QUESTIONS" and left the podium with the other Board members. The Senior Prefects were later called to have an indoor meeting with the Board.
One could surmise from Dr. Akosah's comments that the Headmaster may have been heavily criticised by the Board for his leniency towards students misbehaviour. The departure of Senior Housemaster Owuo, arguably the strictest disciplinarian in Prempeh's history, has allowed certain students to take the law into their own hands. Since the Mock exam ended several weeks ago, some of the final year students have attended neither classes nor prep. The SSCE begins July 5, 2004.

It seems the ban the headmaster placed on outsiders that prohibits other schools from coming to participate in our handover ceremonies does not apply to our love interests - Yaa Asantewaa Girls School, which is exactly what we want. The ban doesn't apply to YAGSS ladies because they came for Wildlife Club handover ceremony today.

The Headmaster has placed a ban on outsiders coming to Prempeh to participate in our handover ceremonies because of the incident at Yaa Asantewaa Girls School, where some students from other schools visiting YAGSS for their ceremony caused trouble.
Meanwhile the Headmaster has distributed to the students the pencils received from our US-based allied school that visited our College this week.

Prempeh boys who visited YAGSS on saturday to participate in their handover ceremonies behaved like perfect gentlemen and returned home in time for 5:30pm roll call and 6pm jollof rice. In fact, had there been any award at the campus of the Royal Girls School for good behaviour, the boys in green would have swept all the medals. However, not all the guest schools behaved in a similar manner.
The much-anticipated fanfare of Yaa Asantewaa Girls School has been cancelled as a result of shocking behaviour put up by some OWASS and KUHIS boys who went to the programme. The OWASS boys came to perform on the stage with their trousers unzipped. Whatever they intended to achieve by that act (i.e., whether or not they intended to expose their genitals to the audience), was considered irrelevant as they were made to zip their trousers after their performance by the YAGSS Order Prefect. That made them so infuriated that after taking some drinks, they crashed the bottles on the ground.
The boys from Kumasi High School (KUHIS) also were made to go back to their school when the Security at the gate realised that they had some weapons on them. The boys who were drunk started throwing stones at the security men and there was an exchange of missiles. The headmistress then called for security men from the police service to come and drag the boys away. She later said that she is going to put a ban on all the school's programmes starting from this past Saturday.
Editor's Note: This report has been written and presented without any prejudice or insult, even if the leading character is viewed as an opponent. It is not intended to portray any school in a negative light. It has only been presented here because it pertains directly to Prempeh College and its allied partner (YAGSS) whose interests are of prime importance to us.

A college in the United States were in the school this morning to have an exchange programme with the students of Prempeh College. The alliance between these two colleges has been there for the past three years. They had a dance performance at the assemble grounds today where the whole school was gathered. The Prempeh Cultural troupe also performed and a student with the nickname YONGI CHO was the favourite of all the visitors since he could dance very well. The college presented a fax machine and some plagues to the school while Prempeh also gave each of them a kente cloth with the symbol of the stool designed in it.

Social Studies master and Patron of the Deeper Life Students Union, Mr. Baaba was the one who led the student body in prayer on Friday's portion of the Revival. And what a spectacular job he did. Not only did all the students loved him, some wondered why he is not the Chaplain.
Bravo, Mr. Baaba, students can now count on you for their spiritual motivation.
The revival was held this weekend (from 4th to 6th June, friday after prep, saturday during the entertainment time slot and Sunday at church service) to pray for the success of the school in SSSCE, which starts on July 5th.

About 400 students today trooped to Yaa Asantewaa Royal Girls School on our free exeat Saturday to partake in YAGSS' handover ceremonies for their GUNSA and CEDEP societies.
Tickets was sold at C20,000 each. The final year
students said they needed an outlet to release some tension, with SSCE Exams exactly one month
away.
What a perfect way to relieve stress
after Mock Exams! We wish them the best of luck in not coming with the measure of
Miss Fameyi's wrath, and in making it back in time for roll call.

Just imagine being a Prempeh student at Sofoline, and having the good fortune of seeing a bus load of females enter our school to participate in a campus event. Consider also how you would present yourself at that moment, to make a great first impression on the ladies. And imagine dressing up to the nines and showing up at the Administration block to impress the lady of your dreams, only to discover that the whole group of females have disappeared.
That is exactly what happened last Sunday when the SU (Scripture Union) students held a handing over ceremony at the Osae Assembly Hall. About 80 SU students from the Yaa Asantewaa Royal Girls School were our guests.
The Sofoline boys seriously planned to find some abudeys after the show. But alas, when our boys straightened up and made their way to the Administration block in their usual Prempeh stroll to find some ladies, the bus and the ladies were no where to be found. Oh awerehosem!
