    VICTOR GYABAAH: THE VICTORIOUS VISIONARY

By Kwasi Owusu Gyeabour, OT House.

'In every age, an evolved soul is brought down from heaven to liberate the world from retardation.' This was said by Pascal Beverly Randolph in his book entitled, 'the circle of lives.' Luckily one came down from heaven when Master Victor Gyabaah was born. Though the star of David was not up in the sky, though he had no magic, heavenly wisdom was engraved in him.

    2003/2004 Senior Prefect Gyabaah VY
Life began when we came to Form one. Then he was only 15 years old but he exhibited the character of an 18 year old. Of course his lifestyle was far different from the rest. This made him the best. He was a form one boy respected by Form Two's and three's alike. His normal routine was and still is to meet his God in the famous basement. Master Victor Gyabaah grew in wisdom and in stature.

In year two, Victor was now famous all over. It was no wonder when people started campaigning for him to be made the Senior Prefect. His charisma was a luster in the vetting room and his exuberance was enough to send a stone through a wall. To say it all, he became the Senior Prefect of Prempeh College.

Indeed, the days are evil. Gyabaah faced a crowd of stupendous hostility but all through he won them over to see the light. For the first time in history, Prempeh boys sang praises to God at the stadium when there was oppression from uncouth ends (OWASS, High School and even Munche). As a sign of God's favour, in Gyabaah's administration, we won the cross-country, the Milo football competition, Ashanti Regional Maths Quiz, National Debate competition, Adaekese Debate, Ashanti Volleyball championship and several others. We even kicked the Satan-asi school out of the National Science and Maths Quiz.

In contrast to the developing school OWASS, whose traditionally insignificant Senior Prefect was demoted this year for beating his fellow human almost to the point of death, Gyabaah is revered all over the Ashanti Region. He is the Ashanti Regional Senior Prefect! Just ask our sisters at Yaa Asantewaa Girls, how Gyabaah's diplomacy liberated them from a conundrum this year. Furthermore, Gyabaah has been invited to lecture fellow students at other schools. On Saturday, June 19th, 2004, for instance, he lectured at OWASS at the invitation of the OWASS Protestants Society because of his position as SU President of Prempeh College.

Back here at Prempeh, Master Gyabaah is made like a father figure, a friend of the friendless and a brother to us all. Though he has had his ups and downs, he has shown us all the truth in wisdom and patience. Though we have no statue or monument to remember him when he's left, I believe to some of us, he's encased in a special section of our memories.

Because of the outstanding job he did this year, prempeh.org wanted to dedicate a monument to Gyabaah's greatness. We thought the best person to do the write-up will be his own house mate, Gyeabour K.O, who is a giant in his own right, having already argued his way to the National Debate championship.

Gyabaah, a native of Dormaa-Ahenkro, will be remembered as one of the great Prempeh Senior Prefects. He is being honoured not only for being the the SP, but also for being the Web Prefect (i.e., for the outstanding contribution he made to the site this year). This likely future occupant of the Castle has done a tremendous job for Prempeh this year, and we wish him all the best in the future, as he leaves Sofoline.
