Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the
position of
D E A N
University of Ghana Medical School (U.G.M.S.)
The Position
The Dean will be in charge of the general administration and development of
the School and will be expected to provide academic leadership as well as
exercise initiative in a period of growing international co-operation in
medical education. As a self-accounting School, the Dean will be responsible
for prudent management of the finances of the School.
The Person
Must normally be medically qualified and of professorial status.
Must be an international acclaimed or distinguished medical
scientist.
Must exhibit a high sense of industry and organizational skills.
Must be a visionary and must be able to establish linkages within
the University system and between the School and government, civil society
and the wider world.
Must be capable of attracting funds to the School.
Must be able to serve a full term before attaining the compulsory
retiring age.
Terms of Appointment
The appointment will be for an initial term of three (3) years and may be
renewed for one more term only.
