Senior Kwadwo Asenso-Okyere has resumed his role as the head of the nation's premier university --
the University of Ghana. He was asked by the Council of the University to resume work
as Vice-Chancellor on Monday, July 3, 2006.
Prof. Asensu-Okyere
Because of his son's involvement in widespread academic misconduct on the campus, he was asked to
step aside last year to allow investigations to be conducted by a Commission.
Though the Professor, whose term of office ends in September 2006 was exculpated
by the Commission's findings earlier this year, the University unjustly went ahead and
appointed a new Vice-Chancellor to serve as Acting Vice-Chacellor until September, whereupon that
Acting Vice will become the full Vice-Chancellor.
However, after a rethink the Council reversed its previous decision and invited the Amanfoo to return to finish
his term.
