Prempeh marches on in Volleyball as Cadets shine

Saturday, November 12, 2005

Anyone who entered the campus of Prempeh College today would have easily believed that there was a special dignitary on campus. But that was not the case at all. This is beacuse, the cadet corps were training today in their new uniforms bought for them by the PTA at 43 million cedis.

These uniforms will be used by the cadets on the speech day that takes place on the 10th December that may see the presence of the H.E John Agyekum Kufuor.

While the cadets were training along with their newly bought brass band, there was a volley ball competition ongoing at the volley ball court. In this zone of Ashanti Inter-Schools volley ball, we had:

  • Kumasi High
  • Prempeh College
  • Antoa Secondary
  • Dwamena Akenten...

...all competing for a place in the final of the volley ball competition that will be held at the Baba Yara sports stadium.

In the first competition, Dwamena Akenten beat Kumasi high two straights. After that competition which DASS mesmerised the Mmerantee (Kuhis boys), Prempeh College also did wonders by beating Antoa Secondary in the second game for the day. The man of the match was Collins Amponsah who proved his worth as the sports prefect. He stood tall in the competition and had all his sets right.

Prempeh then met DASS who also beat Prempeh by a narrow margin, leaving Prempeh the only chance to qualify by whipping the Mmerantee. Prempeh thus beat High school by 50 to 33. This was a game that saw Ahmed Deedat, the soccer captain, winning the man of the match after an impressive performance.

Ahmed, who was hurt on the ankle leaving him out of training for a week, now recuperated very fast to lead the soccer team on Tuesday at Kumaca. The boys who did the yeoman's job for Prempeh College, qualifying them to the final 16 at the Baba Yara sports stadium, are:

Name Jersey number
Collins Amponsah 9
Ahmed Deedat 12
Charles Brenya 11
Appiah Benjamin 15
Abubakari Saddique 13
Paul Addae 5
Asante-Aryeh Benjamin 6
Opoku Andrews 17
Livingstone Koduah 10
Percy Danso 14

These guys did not train so much because majority of them are footballers preparing for the Milo soccer competition.

We wish them all the best in football and volleyball.
