Rising & Falling
This is where we observe the Sofoline boys closely on campus, record all our observations and issue a periodic report on which houses are climbing up, and which ones are sinking fast. Generally, all houses are considered to be "rising" until
negative circumstances cause them to lose vital marks.
December 2003
Which of the Houses are climbing up, and which ones are sinking fast?
OPOKU WARE These guys are leading in everything, and they continue to lead in every human endeavour. They really do not deserve their silly nickname, "The Osofo Dadzie Group." In the 3rd year since the House's inception, they moved from 4th in athletics to Champions as well as defended their basketball title successfully. They make up the bulk of the School Basketball team that recently placed second in the Inter-Schools championship. This is a classic case of the proverbial "Paul a wamma ntem, okyen adikanfo" (Paul, who came much later, achieved more than the earlier Apostles). What a surprise, for a House whose establishment we vehemently opposed and almost sabotaged.
PEARSON Pearson, which used to be "The Gentlemen's House" and was the model for the other Houses in the first 50 years of the School's history, is now the worst: the boys are bereft of morals and they're the Headmaster's worst nightmare when it comes to discipline. They have no talent and they place 9th in nearly all
inter-house activities.
SERWAH They are slowly becoming an academic powerhouse. 3 members of the Science Quiz team are from Serwah. "Sweet Scented house" is what it is now called. Housemaster Nigga-Foe also brings honors to the house every year. Well done, Ashanti's greatest teacher.
BUTLER They have a great history but they now have nothing to be proud of - not even a single athlete to bring glory to the House. Still lack discipline. “Kings of Wretchedness” is their name on campus.
GUGGISBERG Because of their discipline, they recorded the highest number of prefects in the School. They won the Efficieny Shield AGAIN for being the neatest house in the school.
AGGREY These gentlemen have been consistently good in athletics and also in neatness. They compete with Guggisberg for the Neatest House title. Also an academic powerhouse, three students from Aggrey were selected as part of the National Science and Maths quiz.
OSEI TUTU The White House is also rising. They are still the masters of relay races [is there anything that they do better than exchanging batons?], and they produced a key member of the National Science and Maths quiz team. Housemaster Manomaa is keeping them going.
FREEMAN The "House of Prefects" is doing just fine. These boys are the most confident in the whole school.
RAMSEYER These cowboys simply lack discipline.
