The Great Teachers of Prempeh College

Mr. Charles Lamptey
A Mathematics & Physical Education Teacher of the 1960s

Mr. Lamptey was not only an outstanding class room teacher, he also was a dedicated mentor outside the classroom. It was during his time that Prempeh actually rose to prominence in sports. There is no doubt that Charles infected all of us with his enthusiasm, energy and humour. Mr Charles Lamptey was a physical education teacher who also taught maths in the junior classes. Mr Lamptey was the architect of Prempeh's rise to fame in intercollegiate sports. In 1962 he was the man behind Owusu-Mensah's victroy over S.S BUGRI OF Achimota in 440 yds and our first Inerco win. He later brought up people like Ohene Frimpong, Larbi Siaw, Owusu Mensah, Guy Sem, Allotey etc. Mr Lamptey left Prempeh in or around 1964 and beacame a GBC TV Sports Commentator.
