Tight Race

Sunday, November 27, 2005

The 5th week matches of the Prempeh.org Inter-Houses Soccer League was played this weekend. The games yielded some interesting results:

Serwaa 0, Aggrey 1
Butler 1, Freeman 1

Ramseyer 0, Osei Tutu 1
Pearson 1, Gberg 0

Nii of Gberg, who was Man of the Match of the Gberg-Ramseyer game on October 29. Nii wants to spoil Aggrey's chance of winning the league when he face them next week. In the following week, he will do the same to Osei Tutu.

Thus, with 3 games left to go, Butler, Ramseyer, Aggrey, Osei Tutu and Pearson are in contention for the league title.

Butler was held to a 1-1 draw by neighbours Freeman while Ramseyer tasted thei first defeat -- by a lone goal -- at the hands of the OT giant-killers. This puts OT in 4th place with 9 points, while Butler leads with 11, followed by Ramseyer with 10.

Aggrey beat Serwah by a lone goal to remain at the 3rd spot with 9 points, while Pearson climbed to 5th by beating Gberg by a lone goal.

The league championship is now unpredicatble because:

  • Ramseyer and Butler have not played against each other yet
  • Ramseyer faces giant-killers Freeman next
  • Aggrey and OT play each other in the last week of the league, and
  • Pearson has what appears to be the softest schedule for the remaining matches, save for their match against Ramseyer.

This means that the pre-season favourites Pearson, could jump into first position and win the league if the Ramseyer-Butler and Aggrey-OT games end in draws. This means that the Pearson-Ramseyer match may decide which team wins the league.

For now, all 5 teams are capable.
