Prempeh triumphs in Milo first round

Tuesday, November 15, 2005

Sports Prefect Collins Amponsah (left) with team captain Ahmed Amoako seen here in July holding the Prempeh.org soccer league trophy. Collins scored the lone goal of the first game.
The Ahmed-led team that is still on a build-up exercise proved to all its critics that it can really do the job and thus defend the title for the college.

The school team that has only 5 players that played in last year's edition of the regional and national milo championship with unity, did a yeoman's job today the Kumasi Academy park.

Prempeh 1, Bonwire 0

Prempeh's first match was against a Bonwire side that proved impossible to beat. They held the boys in the midfield and the game was all midfield action until Collins Amponsah, the Sports Prefect, managed to penetrate into the defence of our opponents and netted home the only goal of the game.

Collins has been in the school team since form two but has not found a place in the first eleven until today.

Prempeh thus qualified for the finals of today's games to meet Kofi Adjei Secondary, who also beat their opponets.

Prempeh 3, Kofi Adjei 0

The game was really hot but the future Real Madrid star showed his class after connecting home a cross from the ace-athlete Eric Goloe. Charles Brenyah, who is also a new discovery from the Prempeh.org Soccer League made it two for the college and then Eric Goloe outplayed two defenders to make it three for Prempeh.

Prempeh thus qualifies for the other matches to be played at the Baba Yara sports stadium after becoming champions of our zone.
