Soccer League reaches its half-way mark

Sunday, October 30, 2005

The soccer league, which has been highly successful so far, has reached its half-way mark. All the teams have played 4 matches with Butler leading.

Butler and Ramseyer are both undefeated and they both have 10 points. However, the President's House leads on goals difference.

Interestingly, the league remains wide open. With the exception of winless Opoku Ware, any of the other 8 houses is capable of winning it because the difference in points between first place and 8th place is 6 points -- two wins.

New school team recruit, Odem Boateng scored 2 goals to help Ramseyer beat Gberg 2-0 on saturday. Odem thus jumps to the top of the scorers chart, where he's tied with Butler's Paul Manu for 4 goals.

In the other match, Boamah Marfo Emmanuel scored a goal in the last minutes of the match to help Pearson earn its first win in the league. However, the Pearson win over Freeman came at a great price as Gideon Owusu of Pearson was shown a red card and consequently misses the next match, which is against giant killers Gberg.

In the Butler-Agrrey 1-1 draw also played yesterday, Butler's Paul Okyere had a red card. Agyei Tuffuor Bethland scored for Aggrey and Dankwa Ebenezer for Butler.

The league resumes after midterms with some exciting matchups. Each team has four more games to go.
