Soccer League facts

Tuesday, October 4, 2005

  • Soccer League resumes on Friday, October 7.

  • The biggest question people would be asking on Friday is how talented is tis form one class, and which house will get the lion's share of the talented footballers?

The boys are ready to cheer the teams to victory

  • G'berg House is the AC Milan FC of Prempeh College; in a game remniscent of the UEFA Champions league final between Liverpool and AC Milan, they led Freeman by a 3-0 margin at half time and allowed them to come back to draw 3-3.

  • In the 5 games played so far, 24 goals have been scored (an average of almost 5 goals per game). Either we have effective attacking going on or poor defending is pervasive.

  • Mr. Osei Asibey is a new national service personel who will assist Mr. Lartey with the league

  • The pressmen who cover our league came to dine with us at the prempeh.org party for the Class of 2005 at Kiravi Nite Club.

  • There will be no game on Friday, October 21st because of the Inter-Houses Quizes league inauguration on that day.

  • Paul Manu (Butler) and Ahmed Amoako (Aggrey) have bet each other on the Goal King trophy. Currently Manu leads with 3 goals.

  • The Goal King and the Most Valuable Player trophies are intended for keeping by the winners. Coach Lartey suggested that we hand the trophies to the winners and take them back for next year's league because "they are too nice for these kids to take away." But we declined that request; if you win this, its yours.

  • Highest scoring game to date: Butler 6, O.T., 1

  • How they look:

Top 5 teams: Ramseyer, Butler, Pearson, Aggrey, Opoku Ware
    2nd tier: Serwah, Freeman, Guggisberg
    Below average: Osei Tutu

  • Prempeh.org predictions:

    Winner: Pearson
    2nd: Ramseyer
    3rd: Butler
Sleeping giant: G'berg (team most likely to shock others)
    Last: Osei Tutu
