Honourable Prince, the sports presenter at OTEC FM, who is a product of our great College
agreed several weeks ago to a radio interview with us and league promotional exercise on the
radio when we approached him about this idea.
Today we went to the station to finally launch the Prempeh.org Soccer League and, true to his promise,
he paid one-third of the program fee being charged by the station as his personal contribution. We paid only two-thirds of the amount.
We found out to our astonishment that the gentleman was more excited by the League than anybody out there.
He had already appeared on this website and searched for the essential sports news and compiled his own archive
and was ready to proceed.
The Program Manager of the Station, Mr. Kofi Karikari, is also an Amanfoo, a fact we were never aware of. Consequently, we were not
able to give Mr. Karikari any of the prempeh.org tee-shirt we presented to Prince, since we carried only one.
The soccer league kicks off at 3pm and Prince is scheduled "to make noise about it" between the 1pm to 3pm sports show.
During this time that he will be bragging about the league on air, a station correspondent will already be at the Prempeh College stadium
to cover the league for the listening audience.
Prince said the champion of champions clash with OWASS champion that the OWASS sports master Orlando has set up with us is a brilliant idea
for two reasons. First, it will give him a great opportunity to tease his OWAREAN work partner Sheebue, since it is guarranteed that the Prempeh
champion will demolish the Owarean counterpart. The Owarean brags too much at the station and this is a perfect
opportunity for him to get even.
Prince also says that the league is an excellent coup for not only Prempeh and OWASS but for the whole Ashanti. He says that he was surprised that
we developed this idea on our own because it actually matches what he and Agyengo planned last year. Last year, he urged Agyengo
to set up a regional-wide competition featuring the inter-house champion of each school.
Prince is a big fan of the website and he suggested that he will actually take the scores right from this website and
announce it on the air instead of waiting for the Stations correspondent's report from Sofoline, though in this age
of mobile phone technology and text-messaging, such a score report from his colleague at Sofoline would be instantaneous.
Before Friday, however, we will visit the station and appear on air with Asst. Sports master Mr. Ofosuhene and some key players
to be interviewed about the program. The Headmaster will appear on the air later, probably during the end when our champion is
ready to face OWASS.
All these radio promotions coincide with the prempeh.org advertisements on the radio and newspapers throughout the nation.
The trophy will be taken to the station on Friday, before it is brought to the campus to be stored at the Headmaster's office.
