The Greatest Run Ever: An analysis

By Caesar Nketiah, Aggrey '85

In response to the article The Greatest Run Ever , Caesar wrote:

Dear Bro Yaw,

I'm proud to call myself your brother for the chilling and motivational story you just told. Only you could have put it the way you did. It's a masterpiece and I believe most Amanfoo will be mesmerized and energized at the same time that many before us sacrificed in their own funny ways to make us all feel proud to call ourselves Amanfoo. I have read it about five times already.

Those were the days when Aloomaa ran the quartet (not his fortay but only to do it for mother Prempeh), Darkus (trying anything possible to beat Kojo "Salifu" Dodoo of Amass by running off-track and eventually being disqualified), Zaka of Butler Antwi B.C (Kwata Bayere, Yaa Mansah, Agyenim Boateng in goal) shocking the World by beating mighty Kuhis in football, Unknown Yaw "Mafia" Gyasi forming his own fun club by beating I believe sensational Billy of Amass in the second leg of the 4-100 meters during the morning session at Paa Joe stadium (Mafia lives at CT), Achaka, beating flamboyant Dennis Rodman-like "Polo" of Amass in the PoleVault event held at Wesco, Sabata and Sabutey, the Sackey brothers hall of fame, bringing our hockey program to prominence together with the Zakkors and the Shita's, Folai jumping and doing all he could to be a fierce competitor in table tennis (he's a strong patron of our NY charter). The list goes on and one as I do not want to bore those who did not enroll at the same time that I did.

All I'm saying is that the above people and numerous ones that cannot be mentioned would have died during those days to bring glory and hope to mother Prempeh. For those of us who can afford to donate, please let's stop the bickering and do the right thing. I feel obliged to donate $100.00 in addition to what I'll be donating personally on behalf of all those people mentioned above and the ones space could not allow.

Please do not forget Snr Alex Kwaku Appiah (Aggrey, Asst. DHP) a staunch S.U. "chrife" President who turned himself into a human shield and even started throwing stones when Obuasi Sech Tech students were beating the crap out of us at Ksi Sports Stadium. He sacrificed his life for the 12-14 yr olds who could not defend themselves against the might of the 20-24 yr olds from Obuasi. This was a gentleman of few words who could not harm a cockroach and to see him in such a rage gave all of us some "vigor" to fight back upon which our older bullies started retreating to their dismay. Soft spoken Kwaku currently lives happily in London. Prempeh has given us a lot and the least we can do is to give a little back.
