Amanfoo Sports Hall of Fame
Ramseyer House
Owusu "GoalKing" Yeboah
One of the best soccer players of his
time. He was a member of the Prempeh Hockey squad that defeated OWASS and their superstar Cambodia at Wesco. He passed away when he was helping with the cocoa evacuation excercise introduced by the then AFRC. He was then at UST and his body was brought to Prempeh for us to pay our last respect. He was one of the most reliable hockey goal players during the 1980s. He won the goal king award throughout his college days at Prempeh.
P.K. Amoah alias "More Tape"
This famous son of Ramseyer certainly deserves a place in the Hall of Fame. He was the Ashanti Regional
javelin and discus champion for nearly five years. Once he picked up the famous spear there was chants of "more tape, more tape, more tape" ringing all over the stadium.
Ivan "Sabata" Sackey
Sabata and his brother Sabatey brothers brought
all the hockey trophies to Prempeh during the late 70s and early 80s. Their
style was just unique and they could clutch the hockey ball to their sticks
as if there were magnets in their hockey sticks. Sabata was on the team
that featured Owusu Yeboah. These guys were OWASS' worst nightmare. They
were strong discus and shotput throwers. They also played a pivotal role
in the school volleyball and soccer teams. These guys are a must for the
Prempeh Hall of Fame.
Henry "Arrow" Ofori
Arrow was a super-sprinter. He was in
charge of the second leg of the 4 x 100 meters relay that featured his
housemate Datus, Zico and Babylonia. With the most intimidating legs, the
man will just snatch the baton and fly by you.
Fred "Datus" Appiah
This is the man who scored the classic
golden goal in the 13th December football victory that gave us the Regional Football trophy.
A great footballer and a smart and fast sprinter. Datus' style gave Prempeh fans something to cheer about in the late 80s.
Definitely one of the greatest sprinters to ever come out of the Region. Who can forget his finishing of the 4 x 100 in the 1987 Super Zonal Athletics? A non-hostile inter-house rivalry between him, Pearson's Babylonia and Aggrey's Pepsii thrilled Prempeh students and staff alike.
Owusu "Akili Bobo"
Agyekum
Without a doubt, Akili was one of the greatest table tennis players of Ghana during his time. He wasn't just
regionally renowned. He could beat anyone, anytime, anyday. With his older brother Agadas, and Padingo, they gave Prempeh College four consecutive championships.
Osei "Agadas" Agyekum
Anytime you heard "Aaaagadas, Aaaagadas,
Aaaagadas" at Amakom, you'll know that Agadas has made his jump at
the stadium. A great high jumper was he. All the Sammamo will cease, with the whole stadium focused on Agadas. Soon after he makes the height, mothers, children, and students and faculty alike would scream "Aaagadas." A super ping-pong player. He paired with Padingo and gave Technology Secondary School and Kumasi Academy some beatings they will never forget.
Collins Appiah
A great soccer player from 1967-72. One of the best in the game.
Osei Tutu Sarpong
He played soccer & athletics in the late 60's.
Stan Allotey
One of the great runners of the 60s. He
paired up with Ahey and represented Serwah House keenly in the inter-house
athletics. Also a "national" runner. Ran alongside Ralph Boston
and Torino in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. He was recently voted by a Ghanaian international newsmagazine as Ghana's greatest athlete ever!
