This year's National Science is turning out to be very exciting and keen
for the 'old heavyweights'. Most of the contemporary champions have been
surprisingly booted out quite early. Mention could be made of POJOSS,
OWASS and PRESEC, who have all won the contest in the past 7 years. This
has set many minds wondering if there is going to be comeback for some of
the champions of the 1990`s.
A survey amongst many Owareans in Kumasi show that they think fate has
handed them a raw deal. According to an Owarean, who gave his name as
Eugene (BH581) of the Year 2007, he thinks that the stoppage and restart
of the Presec-Holyco encounter on Wednesday, July 4 led to their being
given the stand-by questions which proved to be very difficult. He says
that is why the score of their encounter with Accra Academy seemed to be
well below those of the other contests held on the same day.

There will however be a clash between an 'old heavyweigh', Prempeh College
of Kumasi and one of the 'contemporary champions' left in the contest, St.
Peters of Kwahu-Nkwatia. This will surely be the contest to watch and most
people have started predicting that the winner will surely go on to lift
the trophy. St. Peters will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary this
year and would want to clinch the trophy as their anniversary present.
Prempeh, on the other hand, sees the trophy as a very good present for the
President, H.E. Snr. J.A. Kufour in the year of Ghana's Golden Jubilee. It
is therefore not surprising that the contestants have demanded that an
appointed be book in advance on the 11th July at the Christiansborg
Castle, Osu for the presentation of the trophy to the President.
