National Science & Maths Quiz 2006
Our opponents are not ready
Monday, February 20, 2006
The NSMQ was supposed to start in Accra in March but the timing is now the problem.
Many of the schools have petitioned the organizers that they are not ready for the start of the
national competition.
Consequently, they will have a meeting in Accra mong the various
school coordinators and find a new date. Prempeh's coordinator, Mr. Francis Kupo will go
to Accra on Monday for the meeting.
So far, it has become increasingly difficult for Prempeh to find any school to compete against in a friendly.
All the schools that we approached for a friendly say they are not even close to selecting
contestants; they are no where near the requisite readiness needed for bringing representatives on stage.
The Kumasi schools, especially, have ruled themselves out of any possible quiz trial with us by stating repeatedly
that they are no where near our readiness and do not think it is a good idea for them to compete now.
St. Peters boys were expected to give us a good competition but the school has been closed down indefinitely following last week's
prefects-masters discord there.
Meanwhile Prempeh's contestants have studied and prepared so well internally that they will be able to sit for
the SSSCE exam in the sciences right now and pass with flying colours.
It is very clear that our renowned internet presence and our quizzes league program on television has also contributed to the
hesitancy in our opponents to battle Prempeh in any friendly.
In previous years when there was no quizzes league at Prempeh, other schools came to face us in quizzes even when
they were not very prepared. But now, we can hardly get them to answer our phone calls.
