St. Peter's go into tough contest without biggest star

St. Peter's Secondary, the defending champions, go into a tough first round battle with Aburi Girls on Monday morning
without their superstar science contestant James Acheampong Marfo.
Marfo, a product of KNUST JSS who is renowned for his mathematical and scientific ability, refused to
show up to help Peter's defend the trophy because the headmaster of the school gave them very little money to live on.
Attempts by the Peter's staff during the whole of last week to get him to join the
team proved futile. Marfo has consistently stuck with his opinion: "With 50 million cash and a brand new bus at stake and the school standing to gain
so much, why should I work for a slave wage?"
St. Peter's, traditionally slow starters, usually find the first contest very tough and they improve as the competition progresses. Last year, they barely
overcame Kumasi High in the first round. With a tough Aburi Girls side (Ghana Science Association Science Quiz champions) as first round opponents, Peter's really
need James Marfo.
Interestingly, Marfo's JSS classmate, Prempeh's immediate-past Senior Prefect, S.O. Ampong,
was one of the people who tried in vain to get Marfo to appear for the competition.
