Prempeh's brilliant contestants are aiming for a great new record. Sebastian, Gideon
and Gyawu are determined to go the first four of the total 5 rounds without
answering any question wrong.
Previously, Prempeh has been able to go three rounds without missing a question. This year's
group
is so confident that they feel no contestant in the history of the competition has been better than
them.
Pearson's Adom Baafi Gideon is a master of Biology while Sebastian is an all-round expert, being also the
very articulate one...with the skill of providing all the explanations to essay-like questions when necessary.
Interestingly, Gyawu appears to be this year's version of Asiamah Ernest Amponsah -- master
mathematician of the Class of 2005.
During one quiz competition, the competing contestants on stage were asked to evaluate 7.89 squared minus 2.68 squared.
While the competing schools were struggling with it, Prempeh's Gyawu, sitting in the audience (by the prempeh.org team), instantaneously
whispered 73 as the answer, which our opponents from other schools heard in the audience. Our opponents were awestruck by
the incredible speed with which the Prempeh boys figured out the answer (within a few milliseconds) without
calculating. This incident has sent our fiercest opponents in hiding.
Meanwhile, several Prempeh masters have joined the team. Prof Digo (Physics)
came on Monday and two national service staff arrived on Wednesday (one teaches Biology and the other Chemistry). We have in Accra
seven masters in all.
