National Science & Maths Quiz 2006
National Quiz to be held at Legon?
Monday, April 24, 2006
This year's National Science and Maths Quiz which is
due to take place in June may likely be held on the
campus of the University of Ghana and not the Achimota School as has been done
over the years, according to some yet unconfirmed reports.
This year's competition promises to be a keener one because
schools which have "ran" away from the competition for sometime now will
make their way back. Schools like Kumasi's St Louis Secondary and Pope John's
Secondary will make a come back while others make their first
appearance.
It is also rumoured that this year's competition will be a
"fixed win" for any
of the girls schools as the organisers strive to hammer on girl-child
education. This disturbing news is prevalent in Accra that the organisers have already
decided to "help" a girls school win.
Others are saying that
any of the schools that have won it once will be helped to win it.
Schools like Prempeh, Presec and Peters will be hindered from
winning the trophy for keeps unless the students fight the stage fright and
discouragement that will come from Eureka, the quiz mistress.
However, Sebastian and his boys are prepared to do battle for the college
after their Cape Coast conquest and therefore are not perturbed by the rumours at all.
