National Science & Maths Quiz 2005

Looking ahead to the final

April 25, 2005

The National Science and Maths Quiz which kicked off today at Achimota campus has been set up in such a way that two-time winner Prempeh College, former champion and four-time runner up and semi-finalist St. Peters and an equally engaging Ghana Secondary Technical School are in one bracket. One of these teams have to eliminate the other two along the way.

Two-time winner OWASS, two-time winner Achimota, and two-time winner PRESEC are in one bracket, whereby the most superior team has to eliminate the other two on the way to the final.

The national final will be between the teams that emerge from these two brackets (i.e., Prempeh-Peters-GSTS vs. OWASS-Achimota-PRESEC), assuming that these giants evade upset by a lower-seeded school.

Unless lower-seeded schools eliminate any or all of these giants to prevent them from getting to the final, there is a high likelihood that two schools with two previous national titles will face off in the final, with the chance to win the trophy for keeping.

The producer of the quiz, Mr. Mensah Bonsu said during his introductory statement to the audience that "this will be the year that a school wins it all for the third time," given that there are four repeat winners in the competition. Hopefully the quiz mistress will play fair, and let the best team win.
