Overview of this year's competition

The National Science and Maths Quiz kicked off today at the assembly hall of Achimota school. The programme was started by an opening prayer by Mr. Reginald, who happened to be a tutor from Ghana National College in Cape Coast. His prayer was followed with a speech from the Headmistress of Achimota School who encouraged all the schools around to behave well throughout the competition. The producer of the quiz, Mr. Mensah Bonsu said that, this year, the quiz is not going to be run like a marathon or olympic game like the previous years because if a school is eliminated, it can still be there to observe the performance of the other schools that would enhance the learning process and development they are aiming at.

The schools were then asked to present a student each to come and ballot. The 4 schools that took the 1st to the 4th positions last year were seeded so as to prevent them from meeting till the quarter finals. The seedings were:

• PREMPEH COLLEGE
• PRESEC
