National Science & Maths Quiz 2005
Quiz Mistress changed her ways
Thursday, May 5, 2005
The Quiz Mistress, Mrs. Eureka Adomako, who we wrote about last year because of the
favouritism she showed her alma mater, was extremely fair this year. In the competition between
Kumasi's OWASS and the host school Achimota, her alma mater, the woman was extremely even-handed.
Mrs. Adomako, who is believed to have read or learned about the report on this website, was so eager to show her
impartiality that at times, during the OWASS-Achimota contest, appeared to be against her alma mater.
That is a very refreshing news and we applaud her for that.
The only question that we still hold, especially since our writings here seem to be having an effect on the masses, is how come only one school has the unrestricted monopoly of hosting the quiz annually for eternity? Since it is
a NATIONAL quiz, why can't it rotate around the Regions? Why should it only be held on a campus and not at a neutral hall -- like
Prempeh Assembly Hall in central Kumasi or the National Cultural Center in Bantama -- where AMASS, OWASS and Prempeh could host the contestants?
Why shouldn't Sekondi College, Archbishop Porter Girls and GSTS get the chance to host it in the Western Region?
And even if the competition must be held only in the capital city, why can't we offer the other Accra schools the opportunity to
host it too?
