National Science & Maths Quiz 2005
PRESEC's jibe
Wednesday, April 27, 2005
A strange incident took place yesterday, Tuesday, after PRESEC boys won their quiz.
They started singing a strange song, "Prempeh moho popo, Prempeh moho popo," meaning that
Prempeh is panicky. Of all the schools competing, Prempeh is the one they chose to mock. This, however,
is a classic case of what psychologists call "projection;" that is, when an unacceptable internal impulse is attributed
to an external source - a defense mechanism that is common in paranoid states. Because PRESEC boys have a well justified
fear of Prempeh, they projected that feeling yesterday unto Prempeh, accusing us of being afraid.
There is no thought that frightens the Accra boys more than the idea of facing the famous Prempeh College of Kumasi.
If they want us, they can face us in the final. But first, they must get past the OWASS-Achimota winner.
