New Prefects elected for 2008/09

Thursday, April 3, 2008

Newly-elected Senior Prefect Samuel Basoah
Prempeh College went to the polls on April Fool Day to elect new prefects who will manage the college's affairs next term as the reign of David Nimo comes to an end. The elections which was to take place months ago even before the super-zonals athletic competition did not come off until Monday.

The boys were informed of it at morning assembly and the elections took place in the afternoon of the day.

After the prefects all mounted the stage to read their manifestoes to the students, the voting started at the forecourt while that of the House prefects took place in the various house common rooms.

It was a day for the Serwaa and Opoku Ware boys who achieved so much than expected. The last time a Senior prefect came from Serwah was the days of Dabo Richard aka "Oreke" - a very popular figure in the late nineties of Prempeh College. Oreke was popular because he was eloquent but very stern. He caused a controversy when he was demoted but was later called to deliver the prefects speech at Prempeh College's Golden Jubilee celebration by Mr Sekyere.

First Assistant Senior Prefect-elect Bonsu Osei Abeyie Jr
After the elections, the names of the BIG 8 at Prempeh as it is now used to describe them are:

SENIOR PREFECTS
1st. Basoah Samuel (Serwaa house)
2nd. Bonsu Osei Abeyie Jr (Opoku Ware house)
3rd. Samuel Asare (Opoku Ware).

D'HALL PREFECTS
1st. Brobbey Kwasi Poku (Serwaa house)
2nd. Lawrence Adams (O.T house)
3rd. Kyei Michael.

CHAPEL PREFECTS
1st. Richard Bempong (Serwaa house)
2nd. Ebenezer Sakyi (O.T house)

There was a tie with the Library and Entertainment prefects, so voting for the positions will be next term as the college did not deem it fit to go for the second round since exams was in session.

Prempeh.org will publish the full list of both the external and internal prefects soon.

We wish the boys the best of luck and they should rule with their head and heart with our "collapsing" school on their minds.
