2007/08 Senior Prefect David Nimo
prempeh.org:
Happy New Year Senior.
S.P: Happy New Year.
prempeh.org:
What is the current state of the school?
S.P: Everything has not been quite encouraging but we are hoping for the
best.
prempeh.org:
Any plans for the term?
S.P: Yes. The SRC intends to organize a funfair and the date is yet to be
decided on. We also want to organize a Form Three's Nite which wouldn't just
be for entertainment but would include an interaction with teachers. Finally
there will be an open forum for the students to air their grievances.
prempeh.org:
What is your take on the Headmaster's performance?
S.P: Most of the students see the headmaster's performance to be very poor.
People outside also say that the school is living on past glories. The
Chaplain and the Assistant Headmasters have all expressed concern about our
poor performance as students. The Headmaster is not in the school most of the time so people
don't see what he is doing. Students believe if he were to be around most of
the time, he would be abreast with most of the problems in the school and
know how to address them. It seems on the outside that Prempeh is last on
his priority list but he is doing his best I think.
prempeh.org:
Are there any peculiar problems?
S.P: Some teachers are not punctual to the classroom during normal classes.
That is what is killing us right now. Some don't show up at all.
prempeh.org:
Are students afraid to take teachers on?
S.P: Not exactly. We complained about some of the teachers to the headmaster
last term and he took action. He also complained to us that the Assistant
Headmaster does not bring him the class attendance for him to check at the
end of each week but we feel that since the ultimate power in the school
lies with him, he should be able to exercise that authority over all his
subordinates. Something must be lacking there.
prempeh.org: What of the prefects?
S.P: The prefects are not happy with the state of affairs especially on the
part of students in the school but we are doing our best to turn things
around with the support we are getting from the staff.
prempeh.org: Are you going hand in your badges as it happened some time
past?
S.P: Recently we planned to go on a strike and put down our badges. But now I believe
that in order for us to be able to help make the changes
that we want, we need the power we have as prefects. We will continue to
hold on to our badges and work as prefects and achieve our goals.
prempeh.org: Is your year group ready for the WASSCE?
S.P: Yes we are really gearing up for the exams. The level of seriousness
has really gone up since school re-opened and most of us have started
'mining' already in preparation for the exams.
prempeh.org: Did you hear anything about the performance of your
predecessors?
S.P: What we heard was that it was not very good.
prempeh.org: Does that scare you?
S.P: No, it does not scare us but we see it to be a challenge to improve on
the results.
prempeh.org: Are there any sporting activities for this term?
S.P: We have INTERCO AND SUZO but before that, we will have our traditional
inter-houses to help unearth new talents.
prempeh.org: What would you want to be remembered for?
S.P: One thing we've done uniquely is that we have been able to put a stop
to molestation of Form 1's. Our administration has been very transparent and
students, including Form 1's, can come up to us at anytime and make
suggestions. Students have seen the need for prefects in the school.
prempeh.org: On the National Maths & Science Quiz, do you think you can bring us the trophy?
S.P: Two years ago, we got to the Quarter-final and last year, to the
Semi-final. This year, we are definitely going to the final and bring the
trophy to Sofoline.
prempeh.org: Any message to Amanfoo?
S.P: Things seem gloomy for Prempeh now. In life, there is a dark stage and
a bright stage. I can really see light at the end of the tunnel for Prempeh
and we will surely come out better.
