Incoming Senior Prefect Nimo's Acceptance Speech

...at the 2007 Handover ceremony

Thursday, May 24, 2007

Mr. Chairman, Distinguished Guests, Members of Staff, Fellow Students, Ladies and Gentlemen, indeed it is a great honour to see such distinguished personalities who have defied the unending traffic jam, others their academic work, to be here with us. We are very much grateful and pleased to you for giving such a red letter day for us.

Newly-elected Senior Prefect David Nimo
Mr. Chairman, today marks the end of a leadership journey and the genesis of another, we have every cause to thank the Almighty God and celebrate this rare occasion and do so with great joy.

Friends, we as fresh limbs in the helm of affairs begin this tenure of office with a clear conscience to achieve and gain what has remained dreams of others and as Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr., the famous leader of American Blacks' struggle for civil rights rightly said, "I have a dream", we in turn have a dream and not only that, but also to make it come true. We hope to sustain our plans and obligations and not to create a sensation for a time which will soon be forgotten.

The best in our tenure, Mr. Chairman, will be done to make impacts in academics, sports, and most of all, discipline. Justice will be the order of the day. Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa, said, "I have fought against white and black denominations. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve." Thus, the administration of fair justice will be done to all and sundry.

Friends, as the dictum goes, "In unity lies strength", we acknowledge the fact that we need the collaborative effort of all stakeholders; the administration, members of staff and students for us to make the necessary impact. We ask that you guarantee us your support. For we know, the brain being the powerhouse of the body, is certainly useless without the other parts of the body. We know and believe that our administration, members of staff and students will pledge us their collective support to help us achieve our goals and realise our vision.

Mr. Chariman, our motivational and inspirational visions will be the mastermind behind our endeavours. We believe that once a person claims to be satisfied, complacency sets in resulting in mediocrity. Therefore, ours is to aim above the skies and with God being our strength, we will surely achieve these great aims.

Friends, may you please aid me to say Ayekoo, Tres bien, and Well done to our outgoing batch of prefects for their hard-earned results. May each of them prosper in any field they find themselves.

On this note, Mr. Chairman, Distinguished Guests, Parents, Members of Staff, Fellow Students, Ladies and Gentlemen, "Dexterity and enthusiasm in work performance will be our ally". Thank you in advance for the support you are pledging us and may God be our helper.

Thank you all.

LONG LIVE PREMPEH COLLEGE!

LONG LIVE GHANA!!

God bless us all.
