Low turn out at Prefectorial elections

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

Prempeh College finally went to the polls on Friday. Though the turn out was not all that impressive following the delay of the elections, the prefects who are to man the affairs of the college are in now.

The elections that were to be held last term got postponed due to the incovenience the academic calendar posed. The form threes needed a distraction-free atmosphere to write their exams so the need to have chosen the prefects last term.

That notwithstanding, the people to see the college to its zenith from now until 2008 were voted for on Friday. Not all the students voted as some had gone home on exeat.

Others also were seriously studying but the major cause of the low votes was the absence of the form threes. Some of them were seen studying in their room while the elections were ongoing. Others also just did not "care" as they felt they are completing school and do not have anything to do with the leadership of the college.

In the end, there was a smooth and calm election. We wish the prefects the best of luck.
