Apeadu

He was the real deal in the pole-vault event and set a lot of records. Infact, he accounted for most of our wins in the Superzonals during the 70s. We are not belittling the efforts of the other athletes but if you may recall, Prempeh and Amass were always sharing the points in the tracks. However, the pole-vault event took place at Wesco and no one knew the outcome. But all of a sudden some 15 points would be added to the Prempeh column on that blackboard sitting aroung the middle of the field at the Kumasi Sports Stadium. Then, the announcer would mention the pole-vault result.

Augustine "Babylonia" Adega

A great athlete with so much strength and stamina. He participated in many of the track events that made the two-day inter-collegeiate athletics competition exciting. With the heats and quarter final considered, he participated in 10 races during day one of the festival alone (and he won each of them!!). Some of these events were separated sometimes by a 30 minute resting period. He will then do the semi-finals and finals of each of the 100, 200, 400, 4 x 400 and 4 x 100 meters events. Around 5:30pm, Babylonia will run the 3rd leg of the 4 x 400 meters relay, which featured three other stalwarts, namely, Ashkus of OT, Classic of Pearson and Nick Carter of Aggrey. When 6:15 comes, all spectators outside the stadium would rush inside to witness the final showdown--a 4 x 100 relay featuring Prempeh, AMASS, OKESS, KUHIS, OWASS, TECH SEC, WESCO & KTI. The Ashanti Region has always been aware of the rivalry between AMASS and Prempeh. But there is one great show that the state seems to have overlooked or forgotten: the 1986/87 4 x 100 relay final. Just before the race Amass was 4 points ahead of Prempeh on the scoreboard. We needed this race to be able to capture the trophy. Butler's Zico started the race for Amanfoo. He did it superbly. Arrow of Ramseyer, the "straight course." Babylonia, with the swiftness of a hare, took the baton and made a bending so fantastic and satisfying that Datus of Ramseyer, the finisher, had about 10 yards ahead of Ghana's fastest Olympian today, Emmanuel "Koorah" Tuffuor of AMASS. Koorah could not catch up with the guy in white jersey with green trims. Thanks to you Babylonia! Prempeh won that superzo.

W.O. Agbenyega

Agbe was the great table tennis star of the 1970s. He was the champion in 1974.

Victor Obeng "Classic" Adeyeah

A member of the 4 x 400 squad of the late 80s. Classic was fast. Very fast.

Sam Adomako Kyei

He was the super zonals king of Triple Jump in the mid-70s. He made the Ashanti Regional Team and participated in the "Nationals." The group of track stars that he trained with included Obeng Ntiforo (Santo Jnr), Nketia (Bosco), Joe Adu-Appiah (Wallacas).

Felix Baafi Ntiforo (The Original Santo)

He was the original Santo. A great athlete during his time (1961-69). Won so many laurels for the school long before Santo II came. Made the Ashanti Region Team and the National Team. He did establish a record that few can duplicate. This list would be incomplete without him.

"Santo Jr." Ntiforo

Represented Prempeh in the 100m, 200m, 100x4. Made the Ashanti Region Team and the National Team. He did establish a record that few can duplicate. He even competed for Ghana in the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Canada. A "must" for Amanfoo Hall of Fame.

Joseph "Wallacas" Adu-Appiah

He competed in the star-studded 1970s. Made us proud in the 100m, 200m, 100 x 4 and contributed to the Ashanti Region Team. One of the greatest athletes of his time.

William "Crazy" Obeng

A superb high jumper who always kept us ahead on the scoreboard.

Peter "Jafia" Asante

A great long distance runner, Jafia won many accolades in the 800, 1500, 5000 meters and the cross country for a while. He was somewhat overshadowed by legends like Aluta and Elias.
