... continued from here

The headmaster of the college, Mr Owusu-Achiaw enroute to Accra in the company of the National President, Dr Osei Kufuor had some problems with their car so were not able to come to the progaramme on time. Nonetheless, the immediate past National President (Dr. Akosa) was there and made sure the programme was followed accordingly.

The Amankrado of Nungua making his entry
Prof. Badu Agyeman Akosa took the podium as it was time to award two people who have served Prempeh College so well. He said that only distinct and unique thing about the college's Appreciation lecture is that, we award deserving teaching and non-teaching staff of Prempeh College.

Senior Akosa said Prempeh College always make an average student a perfect one just like himself when he entered the college in 1966. He however said, Prempeh old boys are found everywhere in the world and holding various positions but one position that we havent been able to attain is that of the "Chief Justice" of the land after Senior John Agyekum Kufuor won the position of the presidency in Ghana but reiterated his belief to see an Amanfoo take that position in the nearest future.

This is the one and only Mr. Yakubu, who has served Prempeh for 50 years.
He then asked Mr Yakubu to be on his feet for him to be acknowledged. Mr Yakubu is the head pantry-man at the Prempeh Dining Hall. He entered the college in 1956 and has served the college for 50 years now. He started as a casual worker before being promoted to the pantry and then later made the head pantry-man. He has virtually fed most Amanfoo including His Excellency the President who was in Form 3 when Mr Yakubu entered the college.

He was awarded with a certificate, some amount of money in dollars, a kente cloth and a citation was read for him. The next to be called was Mr. George Antwi Gyimah popularly called Koo Gyimah.

Senior Akosa recalled with fond memories how Koo Gyimah disliked litter and always made him pick all the rubbish on the compound when he found him (Akosa) with his shorts rolled-up. Koo Gyimah was given a standing ovation as he moved up the stage to receive his award from the Agbogbomefia, Togbui Afedzi and the Amankrado of Nungua. He was also awarded with a certificate, some amount of money in dollars while the wife was given the kente cloth.

Mr. Gyimah giving his acceptance speech
Mr G.A. Gyimah served Prempeh College from 1961-1974. He was the Ramseyer house master, then the Entertainment Master. He was later promoted to the position of the Senior Housemaster where he served the college diligently by instilling discipline in his boys. He said after he was presented with his award, "for me if you do not sweep the Apian way well, I will punish you." That was reminiscent of the things that he did for Mother Prempeh during his days in the college. Koo Gyimah was later made the Assistant Headmaster before he left the college to be the headmaster of Tepa Secondary school. Though Koo Gyimah is frail and poor sighted now, he still remembers his students when they get close to him.

He however advised Amanfoo to be diligent, hardworking, punctual and humble and also "flirt" with time consciousness and not women. He said he has seen that the spirit is fading as he even received his invitation letter 4 days to the event.

Koo Gyimah was given a standing ovation and all his students in the room started showering him with praise and shouting his nickname. Present at the function was Mr. R.T Sackey who was also welcomed and had a nice time with his fellow seniors.
