Opoku Ware House Report 2002/03

To God be the glory, for taking us through our tenure of office up to this very moment. We are grateful and thankful to Him for taking us this far.

Opoku Ware II house, the pride of Prempeh College and the old student (Amanfoo) is an asset whose manning was handed over to us by our predecessors on the 28th of July 2002. The moment badges were placed on our chest we felt a sense of dedication and hard work.

The first term of our administration proved a big success and a good start and there were not any atrocities. That was the term that the house saw a general reform in the aspects of discipline, cleaning and dedication to hard work.

It was in this spirit that we placed fourth in the inter-houses athletics competition. This has been the most remarkable performance in the athletics field since the inception of the house two years ago. Some devoted students who made this dream come true were Atico Alexandra, Emmanuel Awuah and Enoch Amofa who are now in the school’s athletics team. The house can now boast of a well trained basketball team who are set to defend their 1st position in the next inter-houses basketball competition. Some of the star players are Fredua Akosa, Prince Lartey, Nana Takyi, Prince Tuffour and Richmond Appiah.

The first term of office saw the official commissioning of the house on the occasion of the 53rd speech and prize giving day by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Also, in that term we carried out a beautification project which saw the making of hedges, planting of tress and different varieties of flowers. The outcome of this project has been a successful one indeed.

During the second term, we together with our housemasters and members spearheaded the construction of a washing bay and an incinerator. The purpose of the washing bay was to ease the congestion at the bathhouses during washing time on Saturdays. Also, the incinerator was constructed to ensure proper disposal and control of waste.

Generally, we can boast of a high level of cleanliness in the house and a remarkable level of discipline. This would not have been possible without the help of our devoted housemasters, Mr. Oppong Boahen and Mr. Okyere Darko who supported us with their sense of purpose and direction. We can’t leave out our devoted house members who through their dedication and hard work made things easy during our tenure.

Finally we can say that the future holds bright for Opoku Ware II house. This is because with only one term left for us to complete our tenure of office we have plans of providing ceiling fans for all dormitories in the house to enable all members enjoy equally with those in the other dormitories with ceiling fan. Hail! Opoku Ware house.
