National Science & Maths Quiz 2006
Prof Digo was passed over
Friday, November 11, 2005
Prempeh.org investigations have revealed that Prof Digo, the Owarean physicist
who has been serving as one of the four masters in charge of Prempeh's national quiz teams in
recent years, was in line to become the Science Department head in 2005. He was also the
one in line to become Prempeh's quiz coordinator, a position that went to Mr. Francis Kupo.
The principal reason why Digo was passed over was because of reports that appeared on
prempeh.org that he had a penchant for discouraging Prempeh contestants in the national quiz.
We reported in April this year about how Digo bragged to our contestants that his alma mater OWASS
would surely go farther than us because history is on their side (i.e.,
they have never lost in the first round, unlike Prempeh who lost in the first round in 2001).
In 2004, he told our boys after their first round victory that their performance was not
good enough and "OWASS would surely beat them."
It turns out the headmaster was paying close attention to all our reports here.
This explains the Owarean's sudden transformation, having made some highly complimentary comments about us on national television,
and having also called the webmaster a few times.
During the quizzes league inauguration, we brought the TV3 video crew to film the masters at the Administration, who were having some interesting discussion.
Digo said made some extraordinary remarks on the television program.
We last spoke to Digo on the phone when he called to ask for his TV/DVD player, which we promised to deliver if he helps with the quizzes league.
Digo, who is no longer a member of the quiz trainers,
explained over the phone that his reason for making those remarks to our contestants in the past was to motivate them to bring glory to Sofoline. We advised him about a better way to do that:
to do as Okomfo Anokye did before being appointed OWASS headmaster. The chemist Mr. Stephen Anokye provided an unstinting service to Prempeh's science quiz program and moved up the
ranks to Assistant headmastership at Prempeh before being appointed to headmaster at his alma mater.
Prof. Digo is the latest Owarean to have become a close friend of our web team; Okatakyie Baffour, the Akataslopsa-Legon President
checks in with us every day to present fraternal greetings. Baffour reluctantly praises our work every day. So does Sir Orlando, the OWASS sports master,
who invited us to extend our soccer league concept to
his school.
