    FIRST QUIZ COMPLETED

    Friday, October 28, 2005

The Inter-Houses Science & Maths Quizzes League took off today just as planned. However, instead of the 3'oclock start time, the College rescheduled it for 12:30pm, with the whole school present.

The entertaining, stimulating and highly invigorating program was filmed with our new JVC camcorders, just as we intended, at the Osae Assembly Hall. Members of Group A (Guggisberg, Pearson and Osei Tutu) were scheduled to battle each other today.

One of the most memorable days in Prempeh history, all the teachers -- science and non-science staff -- were present, each with the commonplace goal of seeing Prempeh pushed forward. Quite fascinatingly, Mrs. Theresa Danso, the new Regional Director of Education, showed up at our campus early today to ensure that the competition was actually going to take place, which provided further evidence that Prempeh College is enjoying the best moments in its history. The Director is so concerned about our project.

She told Mr. Kupo that she does not want the situation whereby the contest is inaugurated but we spoil the whole program along the line. She left for Yaa Asantewaa Girls campus and returned for the competition, just in time to watch the challenging Problem of the Day.

Favourites Guggisberg beat co-favourites Pearson 33-28. After round two, Pearson trailed 23-15 but the Pearsonians nearly closed the gap until the riddles proved so hard to answer and thus made them falter.

Gberg is an extremely brilliant side. Mr. Kupo's prediction is that either Gberg, Pearson or Freeman would win it all. But Aggrey, Serwah and Butler are also awesome. And Ramseyer also has something to say about the superiority of these houses. Thus the league is going to be keen.

The battle of the titans took 1 hour 15 minutes instead of the anticipated 1 hour. By the time it was completed, it was time for lunch. Consequently, the Osei Tutu - Gberg battle could not come on. The post-siesta period was reserved for today's cross-country race.

And since Friday evenings (after prep) are reserved for denominational (e.g. prayer) meetings, the quiz would be rescheduled for tomorrow.

Not only are three soccer matches and a cross country scheduled for saturday, the entertainment program and the quiz are also competing for the night slot.

Stay tuned for pictures from all this weekend's activities.
