PREMPEH.ORG GOES SHOPPING WITH PROF. KUPO
Wednesday, August 24, 2005
Prempeh.org went on a shopping spree with our Quiz master Prof. Kupo in Accra on Monday.
The master was in Accra to attend a seminar on the National Science & Maths Quiz
organized for school representatives from around
the country.
Not only did he pick up a heavy package of books intended for the Prempeh.org Science
Quiz Library, he also went shopping with us for more books. This was a perfect
opportunity for us to learn about the books vital to our preparation for the Quiz.
Even books which were not essential were impulsively purchased just to enhance
the Prempeh learning experience. He kept pointing to them while the webmaster, the sponsor, kept
paying for them.
From the bookshops we went to Primetime, the organizers of the National Science Quiz to order more
videos of the Science Quizes from the past.
We paid for last year's quiz, which comprises of 32 programs. This set of videos is critical because last year's quiz format changed, which no school could have expected last year.
However, they could only give us the videos of the preliminaries as they have not edited the videos for programs beyond the one-sixteenth stage yet. They need to be edited into
a made-for-tv format. Particularly those that have not yet been shown on television cannot be sold at this time.
The remainder will be ready in 2 weeks time.
We also purchased several of the Problem of the Day components of the quiz
from their archives, which were sold at a higher price.
While shopping there, Adisadel's Assistant Headmaster arrived to buy last year's Problem of the Day, which
they performed poorly in. The Cape Coast school has been getting all the
Problem of the Day questions wrong over the last few years and the school is determined to rectify that problem.
But the most surprising visitor was St. Peter's Headmaster -- yes, full Headmaster -- who showed up and
ordered 60 programs in our full glare. Though the tapes weren't ready, he paid any way, and decided to come back for them another day.
Prempeh.org started this trend, which Nat, the video editor at Primetime, a gentleman we have established rapport with, revealed to us.
In fact, it is because of prempeh.org's purchase earlier this year that inspired the organizers to actually convert
the material onto DVDs and raise the prices this year just to profit from it.
That is also why they give Prempeh College a special deal: they prepared a 2-programs-per-video just for Prempeh, while all other buyers
have 4 programs on a videocassette.
Furthermore, because all our competitors
learned about our purchases from this very website, they are all buying now. Watching those tapes may help prepare contestants, but all
our opponents seem to be doing the same thing, which is why we need not disclose certain information from our camp on this website. Nothing gives our
competitors from around the country more ideas than a visit to prempeh.org.
The Prempeh.org Science Quiz Library is located on the top floor of the Science
Resource Center, next to Mr. Koduah's office. It is destined
to enhance Science education at the Royal School.
All 54 interhouse contestants and reserves from the 9 houses, could
end up getting an unprecedented 8A's on the SSSCE exam.
We are moving the school forward.
