Dear Sir/Madam:
The purpose of this letter is to invite you to cover for your television audience a special ceremony at Prempeh College on Friday, October 21st, 2005, at 11am.
To reassert Prempeh College’s supremacy in the Sciences, the Global Amanfoo website, www.prempeh.org has introduced for the 2005/06 academic year and beyond, a first-of-a-kind Inter-Houses Science and Maths Quizes League Competition aimed at helping the school prepare adequately for the National Science & Maths Quizes competition. The program has been set up and sponsored by the Global Prempeh College website, prempeh.org, with the support of the Headmaster and his Staff.
The Format:
The 9 houses are grouped into 3 groups of 3 each, with each house competing against the other group members twice and against each of the other 6 houses once. The winners of the 3 groups and the best second-place team will qualify for the semi-finals. That means there will be a total of 96 quizes (10 competitions for each of the 9 houses and 2 semi-final contests, a third-fourth battle for semifinal losers and a grand final). Each house will present 4 representatives (three from form 2 and one from form 3) which includes one reserve.
A new Science Quiz Library has been opened for this purpose, which is decorated with science books and dictionaries along with national Science Quiz videos for the quiz contestants to use.
Video cameras have also been procured for the school to facilitate archiving of the contests. By keeping a video archive of the contests, the contestants could not only prepare for their opponents very easily, they could benefit from the video as a learning tool. It will also help Prempeh's national quiz contestants.
In fact, in 2 or 3 years, Prempeh would have a video archive so large that the school's national quiz contestants would have exposure to nearly every question under the sun and the various ways the questions could be presented at the national level. This is because of the fact that the Prempeh.Org Inter-Houses Quizes League is designed to parallel and be a carbon copy of the national quiz. One can only imagine what the Royal School’s quiz achievements will be in 5 years time.
We feel that this program, which has received tremendous support from the Prempeh Board of Governors, will go a long way in elevating our alma mater’s legendary academic reputation nationwide.
As you may recall, Prempeh College is one of the few repeat winners of the prestigious National Science & Maths Quiz competition. If there is any program that could help The Kings College of Ghana win it for an unprecedented third time, then this is it!
We hope that you will join us with your television crew and help us mark the launching of this innovative program, which will have a far-reaching influence on our school. When you arrive, you will see banners that display the following information:
