National Science & Maths Quiz 2006
2006 Quiz contestants to return to campus
Monday, August 22, 2005
The Headmaster after special consultation with the webmaster
has decided to bring Prempeh's 2006 Quiz contestants back to
the campus to spend the vacation preparing for the next
inter-schools Science & Maths Quiz competition.
Prempeh College selected the contestants nearly 1 year ahead.
Since Prempeh.org was on the verge of sponsoring our debate team on a debating
tour of Cape Coast during the vacation, the website proposed that the Science Quiz
contestants be allowed to come and live on campus, at our expense, so that they too can benefit
from a joint Cape Coast tour with the Prempeh Debating team.
This impressed the Headmaster so much that within a few hours of our discussion, he had
traced 6 of the contestants by phone!
He phoned us during the weekend to inform us that 10 out of the 12 boys have been
reached, and they will be coming to campus as soon as we find the other two.
The money for the Cape Coast tour has already been sent to the school for the debaters and the scientists.
This will ensure that the debating team, led by Senior Prefect Demitiah WKO, will lend support to the Science
Quiz team during their quizes in Cape Coast.
However, the Science masters are fully aware that trial quizes in Cape Coast are not challenging, and
they actually do give false impressions about Prempeh's prowess. The Cape Coast schools are very weak
academically and they do not provide any stimulating challenge to any of the schools in Kumasi. Though
Prempeh conquered the whole of Cape Coast two years ago in trial quizes, it became clear later that
those competitions were not helpful, since village schools were actually sharper than the Cape Coast Schools.
Prempeh is therefore using the Cape Coast tour as a warm-up exercise before a major trip to Akwatia to face
the great St. Peter's boys. A similar trip will be made to Accra to face Achimota and PRESEC.
The selected contestants for the 2006 National Science & Maths Quiz are:
1. Okyere Prince Sebastian
2. Adom Baafi Gideon
3. Asare Baah Andrews
4. Tanoh Lewis Yeboah
5. Aning Daniel Gyawu
6. Adu-Darko K.Nyantakyi
7. Osei Prempeh Kofi
8. Osei-Owusu Joel
9. Agyeman Harry
10. Ayi-Bisah Leonard
11. Aryeh Derrick Prince, and
12. Bartels Osei Yaw
The debaters started their preparation early because the 2006 National
Debating competition will be held early in the year.
This is the year Prempeh is going all out for a tripple crown -- the national MILO football
championship, national Science & Maths Quiz championship and the national Independence
Debate championship.
