The Headmaster today set Friday, October 21st, 2005 as the date of the opening ceremony of the Inter-Houses Science & Maths Quizes League.

The event, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 1st, had to be postponed for various reasons. First, the headmaster will be out of town on that date. Furthermore, saturdays are busy days for our guests and the choice of a friday will be more convenient for the guests. This will also allow enough time for the invited guests to prepare for an appearance.

They have started painting certain parts of the campus in anticipation of the grand ceremony.

The format we designed is as follows: The 9 houses are grouped into 3 groups of 3 each, with each house competing against the other group members twice and against each of the other 6 houses once. The winners of the 3 groups and the best second-place team will qualify for the semi-finals. That means there will be a total of 95 quizes (10 competitions for each of the 9 houses and 2 semi-final contests and a grand final). The Headmaster today suggested that 95 matches may be too much so we should consider reducing the number.

Headmaster Owusu-Achiaw has also instructed the Housemasters to select their quiz contestants. The Housemasters are meeting with their house prefects to select the best brains in the Sciences to represent the houses. Profiles of all the contestants will be placed on this site.

Meanwhile, the Quizes League trophy, which was taken from the school upon our discovery of a typographical error in the engravement, was returned today. The designer had written "Quiz League" instead of Quizes League and we needed to have it corrected.
